A Night in Sedona at the Adobe Hacienda

When my girlfriend and I were planning our sightseeing and hiking trip to Sedona, AZ we didn’t want to stay downtown and break our budget. My girlfriend had been eyeing up the Adobe Hacienda Bed and Breakfast for some time. It has a unique flare. Each room is decorated with a different southwest style theme. It is located very close to Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock, which were about 5 to 10 minutes away for hiking. The Anasazi Room was available for the date we were going to be in town and we booked it for one night at $260 a night. The bed and breakfast was located just south of Sedona which was great for us because we could avoid the heavy traffic. After a long day of driving and hiking we arrived around 4 pm to get checked in to our room. The bed and breakfast staff were very friendly and greeted us outside and promptly showed us to our room. Our room was clean, had a gas fireplace, king bed, seating area, double sink in the bathroom with a full shower and separate bathtub.

My girlfriend loved the décor of the room. I however thought it was just okay, it wasn't my style. I also noticed that the sheets and blankets on the bed were heavily worn. Perhaps, invest in some new bedding? The curtains let in a good deal of light when closed too.

The bathroom floor was in need of some serious TLC, there were massive cracks throughout the floor. Perhaps it was part of the rustic charm.

After a long day of driving and hiking all I wanted was a comfortable bed so I could get some much needed sleep! Alas, sleep wasn't in my cards that night. I thought the bed was extremely uncomfortable and I slept very poorly that night. My girlfriend thought it was just okay, nothing great. We also neglected to turn on the fireplace at night and it went from 70 degrees down to close to 40. We woke up in the middle of the night freezing. That was our fault for not thinking ahead. Perhaps there wasn't a heat source other than the fireplace or maybe I missed the thermostat. In the morning I groggily meandered to the common breakfast area to get some coffee in my veins to try and counteract the lack of sleep. Breakfast was a two course meal that started at 8:30am. I wished it had started earlier so we could have gotten an earlier start to our hiking to beat the crowds but that was not an option. However, their breakfast was very good. It started off with a baked pear with a sweet sauce that was superb. The second course were eggs and a homemade biscuit. If you’re looking for a cool themed place to stay outside Sedona, it might work for you but it didn’t for me for the above reasons. This is my personal opinion only. Thanks for reading.
