Where's the hot food Delta? Delta First Class.

I paid $308 for my coach seat on this Delta 757-200 flight and used a flight credit I had. I got bumped up to First Class at the last minute and thought I'd show you how service was on this flight. I also visited the Virgin Atlantic lounge in JFK before my flight. The views from the sky as we approached ST. Thomas were breathtaking too!

We first stopped at the Virgin Atlantic Lounge in JFK Terminal 4.

Overall it was a decent lounge but paled in comparison to the LHR Virgin Atlantic lounge.

You can check out my review or Virgin atlantics new upper class and the LHR lounge here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-aTfcoKfhY&t=339s

AT each table you will find a QR code. You scan the QR code on your table and order what you want from the menu. Everything is prepared to order and fresh!

We ordered eggs benedict, coffee and a fruit cup along with some sparkling water.

Our food was brought out and it was hot as one would expect and tasted pretty good.

Now that I had some fuel and of course my caffeine injection for the morning I took a few minutes to do some plane spotting.

I was lucky and caught a glimpse of a Hawaiian Airlines plane pulling up to the gate. I hear they have a good business class product and one day I just might have to review it.

After washing up we headed off to find our plane at B28. But when we got there we noticed that boarding started early! Or perhaps we were late haha!

Since I'd been watching the seat chart for my flight, Delta had been advertising upgrades to FC for me and those prices ranged from $531 to $750. As much as coach sucks I couldn’t justify that cost.

But when I woke up this morning lucky me I got bumped to FC! Delta Gold medallion members are eligible for complimentary upgrades to Comfort+ seats and FC depending on availability. Gold medallion members start clearing upgrades 3 days before the flight departs. A few factors go into this upgrade process. According to Delta First is your status then how much you paid for your ticket, Fare class, I.G. J, K, L, and if you have a delta Amex reserve card that can help to. I don’t have that card though.

So on this flight I’m going to show you what the service is like. Is there hot food? Pre-departure beverage? How are things on board since the mask mandate has dropped?

FC was completely full today. There’s so many Delta elites now it’s hard to get upgrades. This is because for the last couple of years Delta extended Medallion members status without having to re-qualify! Good for High level members bad for a lowly Gold like me ;(

Your seat choice matters! The bulkhead seats sometimes have limited leg room on certain planes. I was originally in the front row bulkhead seat but I switched to 2d at the last might.

Other than the small water at our seats there was no pre-departure beverage.

As far as power options go you have standard power outlets below on the center counsel and the seatback IFE has a low power USB port.

Data plans and messaging:

You can join to Deltas Onboard WIFI and texting is free using an Apple phone or on android using Facebook messenger. The $5 fee for Wi-Fi on your flight is quite reasonable and Delta's new Wi-Fi is pretty fast! You can buy a $50 package bbut i'd only recommend that if you fly a lot in a month. Individual overhead air vents are always a plus!

Taking off was pretty smooth with no delays. I was able to catch a nice view from the air of the ocean below.

Let’s get the tray table out in preparation for breakfast! It’s fairly sturdy as far as arm rest tray tables go. As we were descending into St. Thomas I noticed tons of brown patches in the ocean.

I thought hot food was back, apparently not on this flight!

Our choices were a charcuterie plate or cold overnight oats. I chose the oats and they came in this box just like the last 1.5 years…

I got a hot coffee and it was decent.

In the food box was a set of wooden cutlery. Hard to cut things with but good for the environment so I applaud this decision on Delta's part choosing this option.

Upon seeing the cold oats in the light of day, I was hesitant because of how it looked But it tasted really good! If I had to I'd eat them again.

It seemed like no time at all before we started our descent into St. Thomas. While gazing out the window I noticed brown patches in the ocean. I originally thought they were Oil slicks but they’re weren't! They are Sargasso blooms! Bad for beach goes for sure especially if they can be seen from the air!

Aside from the Sagassum, I found the Island, beach, and ocean, views from the air to be simply breathtaking.
